Zero For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

We are at the end of the A to Z Blogging Challenge.  This brings us back to the beginning and that is Zero.

I thought I would only make it one week, but here I am.  I made it all the way through.  I said nothing profound in my blogs.  It was so nice to get comments from people who have no interest in the Tarot. I appreciated that.

In the Rider Waite Tarot deck, the Fool is numbered Zero.  The Fool is beginning a journey.  An adventurous spirit leads the Fool through the challenges of how to live life.

The Fool is about to step off a cliff.  There is no concern on his face. The sun shines brightly in the sky.  The little dog seems prepared to go with him.  This is a leap of faith.  The spirit of God has given him the faith to move forward and to trust in himself.

I look at this card as positive.  With negative cards it can be a warning that you are being foolish. With the Moon card it may mean that there may be dangers in your journey.  Keep a watchful eye.

In questions of romance this may tell you that the person you inquire about is a free spirit.  This person may not want to commit to a relationship or you may be feeling mixed emotions about getting involved.  Listen to your gut.

Leave your worries to God and you will feel lighter.  What you need will come to you.

Youth For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

Youth - The Six of Cups can mean youth, children, childbirth or childhood memories.  Feeling loved and protected.

Now that we have taken care of the Y, this card can also indicate that finances are good.  You may receive a gift.  With work related cards this will show a job offer.  There may be a new love coming into your life.

Because this is a card of the past it can literally mean antiques or archaeology or someone working in those fields.  This can be a warning to stop living in the past.  Remember the past, but live for the future.

You could get good news, a compromise will be reached.  With positive cards, things are going to work out better than expected.  Keep your eye out for happiness and you will find it.

Xylography For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

xylography

noun xy·log·ra·phy \zī-ˈlä-grə-fē\

Definition of XYLOGRAPHY

:  the art of making engravings on wood especially for printing

This letter was even harder than U.  When I saw this word I thought of the Eight of Pentacles.
The Eight of Pentacles is the card of work.  Dedication and learning a trade, an apprenticeship. The man on the card looks like he might be doing xylography.
This card also indicates financial gain, but not big sums of money.  You will be working for it. There will be a lot of things to do in this project.  Don't let the details overwhelm you.  Get organized.  This is craftsmanship.
If you are looking for a relationship It will be coming soon.  If your on a job search this card indicates that a new job is on the way.

Wish For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Nine of Cups - the wish card in the Tarot deck.

To yes or no questions this card means yes.  Nines are completion. Obtaining your goal.

The man in the 8 of Cups may have been walking away from disappointment or following his true path.  Reaching the Nine of Cups he now feels satisfied.  This card is pleasure of all the senses.  If paired with the Lovers card it will show sexual satisfaction or a relationship that is very satisfying.

This can indicate enjoying, but maybe overindulging.  The man sitting in front of the cups has his arms folded.  Another warning of this card, don't be too smug.

This card is about getting what you want.  Maybe it is what you think you want.  Remember the saying - Be careful what you wish for?  Go ahead and make your wish.

Victory For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Six of Wands is victory.

I love to see this card in a reading.  After the intense struggle of the Five of Wands, victory is at hand. The man on the horse is facing right, looking to the future. If there is any negativity with this card, it is a warning not to get to full of yourself.  Success is within reach, but you have to work at it.

Finances may have been tight, but this will change when the Six of Wands shows up.  Work will be successful.  Projects will do well because of cooperation among all involved.  A new romance has the potential to work out well.

Difficulties will be overcome and negative conditions will come to an end.  You will have good luck. Be thankful for all that you have.

Uberty For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

Uberty, yes it is a word.  I had a hard time trying to find a U word to relate to the Tarot!

Uberty

U´ber`ty

n.1.Fruitfulness; copiousness; abundance; plenty.
Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, published 1913 by C. & G. Merriam Co.
This is The Queen of Pentacles

The Queen of Pentacles is the Queen of fertility and abundance.  This is a woman who can help you financially.
Finances are good, work is looking good and there may be an offer of employment.  Romantically this can mean you will meet someone.  This card is somewhat like the wish card.  Things are going to work out better than you thought.
This business person will attract money.  Since fertility is represented by this card it can mean a pregnancy.
You will hear something that will give you hope.  Keep the faith, because what you want will come to you.

Theft For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Seven of Swords  - Theft, con artist, trickery or deception is not the best way to win.  This card can indicate a victory, but you can see that two swords are left behind. You may need to make a compromise.

You may want to get away from a bad work situation.  This is also indicative of anxiety over money, but can show an unexpected financial gain.

I always tell people that when a bad card appears it is a warning.  If you are forewarned, you can change things, but with this card that does not seem to happen.  You may have let someone into your life who will screw you.  The warnings were already missed.   You may have been or will be the victim of deception.  You have let this happen.  Make sure that plan B is in place and you will be fine.

In questions asking about a future relationship with someone you have met, forget it.  This person may be trying to get away with something.  In this case you are being forewarned.

I know there are positive aspects to this card, but I usually see the more sneaky sides when I see this card in a reading.  The unexpected financial gains, I have seen, but it is not often.

Sorrow For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Three of Swords.  The sorrow that comes with this card is deep emotional pain.  However, pain is necessary .  Without it we would not know how precious joy is.

Three's are group activities, communications and words.  That means this card can indicate bad news.  It shows that your friends will stick with you through the rough times.

When this card comes up in a question about romance, there will be a broken heart.  You may find out something about the other person that will feel like a stab in the heart.  This could show a third person entering a relationship that will break it up.

Depending on the surrounding cards, this can mean heartache or an actual heart attack possibly brought on by sadness or stress.  There is a definite need to unwind.

If you have been offered a job, it will not be what you were looking for.  The good news is that whatever your disappointment has been will be replaced with joy.  Things did not work out for a reason and something much better is coming.  Keep the faith.

Restriction For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

This card shows restriction.  When you look at the card closely you will see the the woman is bound loosely.  The person in this card can easily free themselves.  look at the bindings.  They are about to fall off.   The feet are not bound. She then can remove the blindfold to see what is happening.  Fear  is stopping her.  Are you afraid to see what is in front of you?

Has someone been putting you down?  Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself.

If the question is about someone who is likely to get in trouble with the law.  They better watch out; This can can show imprisonment.

financially and emotionally you are feeling trapped.  You will get over this  Nobody is trying to keep you bound,  You have brought on the restriction by yourself.

If you have been offered a job, it will not be the one you want.  If already in a job it is time to look for another.

The most important message of this card is that there is always a way out.  You need to open your eyes. Don't be afraid to see or to take the blind fold off.

Quest For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Hermit has been on a quest his entire life.  The quest for knowledge.  From this knowledge the Hermit has gained wisdom.  Not everyone is able to do this.   Wisdom can not be taught.  Although this card can mean a teacher, the Hermit does not teach he is more a guide.  The student must learn the lessons by himself.

The Hermit is facing left which can indicate the past.  Looking to the past to help solve a problem. However, with negative cards it can mean that you are looking in the wrong place.  It could be someone from your past making contact with you.

The Hermit is alone, but not lonely.  This person likes to spend time alone.  This card may signal that you need to spend some time alone to figure things out.

Research and study are represented by this card also travel to gain knowledge.  This card can show up when you are taking courses for your job.  Conventions.  Just make sure that if the convention is in Las Vegas, that you do attend classes.  At least a couple.

Party For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

Are you the life of the party?  Maybe you are still looking for the party.  The Three of Cups is a party, a celebration.

This may be your regular get together with friends.  Since this card is also about healing this could mean a support group.    Friends will be supportive and you may find that you have more friends than you thought. This card may come up when someone has isolated themselves from others.  They may need the support of friends to pull them back.

A new beginning is at hand.  When this card comes up in a question about money it is always good.

I have seen this card come up with the death card and it was showing a funeral.  With other negative cards this can show someone has an alcohol or drug problem.  Maybe someone is partying too much.

If you have been stressed out at work it may be time to take a vacation.

In general, this card is about happy celebrations,  Memorial Day is coming up.  Get your grills ready and have a party and remember to always count your blessings.

Ominous For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

ominous

    adjective

1.
portending evil or harm; foreboding; threatening; inauspicious:
an ominous bank of dark clouds.
2.
indicating the nature of a future event, for good or evil; having the significance of an omenbeing a portent:
Some of these events were immediately ominous, while others only later revealed themselves as such.

When you see the Tower, things are about to go terribly wrong.  There is a crisis.  Unexpected events, lies, infidelity, betrayal will all cause havoc.

I always try to see the positive aspect in cards, but it is difficult here.  The best advice of this card is don't fight change.  It is time to figure out what is most important in your life.  That which is not necessary must be let go.

With very positive cards this will show a new unexpected opportunity.

The positive meaning is that you need to tear down and rebuild, but this is not without personal trials.

Most people, when the Tower shows up, know that something needs to be changed.  For those who don't, the counsel is to examine your life. Be prepared for change and don't fight it.  For those in a risky lifestyle, watch out.  You have been forewarned.

Navigation For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Six of Swords: Navigating the trials of life. A turning point.

A woman and child huddled together in a boat.  A man is steering the boat away from choppy waters. No one is looking back.

This card reminds me of my past.  I had to leave an abusive marriage.  Taking my children I had to escape.  I took nothing with me, but all of our clothes.  With the help of friends, I got away safely.  I never looked back.  Sixteen years later, I look at this card and try to remember that scared person. She is long gone.

Don't hold on to the past you must move forward.  This card is leaving a bad situation and charting a new course.  You are now on the road to recovery.

There may be obstacles along your path, but these will be resolved.

A romantic relationship will not turn out as you had hoped, but that is ok.  Just move on.

In regards to finances this card shows that there may be some trouble especially if you are trying to collect money.  Things are going to get better.  It's not winning the lottery, but money problems will ease up.

You may have to end a partnership, business or personal.  Recognition that you are not moving in the right direction can be difficult.  Face it and start moving forward.

If the question is about moving, this card can simply mean yes to the move. Abandon projects that you know are not working and look to the future.

Moon For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Moon - Disturbance

A dog and a wolf stand howling at the moon. Moon drops fall from the moon in to the darkness. These drops will fertilize the ground.  The dog is the tamed mind. The wolf, our primal urges. The crayfish or lobster in some decks, is the emerging subconscious.

Things are not always what they appear to be. This is a theme of the Moon card.  Just as you thought that the moonlight is shining down, it is actually the reflection of the Sun.

Whenever this card comes up in a question regarding a relationship, it shows disappointment.  There is something you are not seeing about the other person.

The Moon is imagination, creativity.  The Moon is trying to tell you to watch for potential dangers in a situation. You must rely on your self.  You may be unsure of your path in life.  Pay attention to your intuition.  You already know the answer.

The Moon is unforeseen danger.  A literal meaning can be a warning when travelling.  Watch for dangers on the journey.

Luck For The A to Z Blogging Challenge.

We all hope, wish and pray that luck is with us. The Wheel of Fortune is luck if with positive cards.

Change is certain when you see the Wheel of Fortune.  If you have been flying high, watch out if this card shows up.  Be prepared for a change.

Luck, destiny and second chances are seen in the Wheel of fortune.  What goes up must come down and vice versa so if you messed up in a relationship or at a job there could be a second chance.

Some new information will come to light.  If you have been worrying about your finances, some new information will let you see things in a different light.  A new cycle is coming.  Whatever is happening is for a good reason.  You may not be able to see it now.

The Wheel of Fortune is motion and can literally mean your wheels.  If you have been thinking that you need new tires, go and get them now.

I like to see the Wheel in my readings.  Unless with VERY negative cards, it shows change and usually for the better.  As with all readings, if you are forewarned you have the chance to change directions before disaster strikes.

Knights for the A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Knights are the action in the Tarot deck. When the Knight of Wands, Knight of Cups, Knight of Swords or the Knight of Pentacles appear,  Change is imminent.

Wands are the ideas or seeds of things beginning.Someone may be thinking about a new business.  All of the Knights can mean  a love entering your life, but this relationship would be a new one. The Knight of Wands is facing left so this can mean it is someone from your past.

Cups are the emotions. The Knight of Cups can be an invitation, marriage proposal or job offer. This card is very good for finances.

The Knight of Swords is action, agitation or strife.  This ideas that started with the Wands are about to take place.  These changes will be sudden.  The change can be good or bad.  The sword is double edged.

With the Knight of Pentacles, the change will be more slow.  Pentacles are manifestation, but the change is more slow and methodical.  Money may be coming in to your life.  Everything the Knight of Pentacles undertakes is successful.

Juggle For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

Juggle: To hold or balance precariously, to handle or deal with several things at one time.

The Two of Pentacles

This is another card where a need for balance is implied.  Several projects may be underway and there is difficulty maintaining control.  This card can counsel that you may need to drop one project to maintain balance.

This person may be trying to maintain emotional control. Stress may be causing health issues. Don't spread yourself to thin.  Financially your money is alright, but you may need to put off some purchases for now.

You could be trying to decide to take a new job.  A new career direction will be successful .  Travel on the other hand may be a little bumpy.

In regards to love this card can show emotional trials, but the number 2 is reconciliation so things should work out unless with other negative cards.

IRS for the A to Z Blogging Challenge

It's that time of year again.  April 15th approaches quickly.

The Six of Pentacles reminds me of tax time.  Here are a few of the meanings of this card.  Paying off a debt, getting paid, a payout in a divorce.  This card also means you may have trouble trying to collect money that is owed to you.  You want what is rightfully yours.

The Six of Pentacles shows that someone is willing to help you, but I can tell you from experience, don't expect that help to come from the IRS!

Have you ever tried to call the IRS with a question?  When you call there is never an option to reach a live person.  Google "how to get a live person at the IRS"  Obviously there is a problem here. There are many helpful hints from people desperately searching for a live person at the IRS!

It makes you wonder, if no one can get through to the IRS, what are all the employees doing?  Well here is a thought.  The Six of Pentacles can mean online shopping.  I guess they are too busy shopping to answer the phones.

Good luck with your refunds.

Horny For the A to Z Blogging Challenge

I tried to find the origins of this word and there are many.  We all know what it means so the origin doesn't matter for the purposes of this blog.

The Devil has horns and so do them man and woman on the card.  The couple is chained, but notice that the chains are loose.  They can be removed at any time.  The Devil here is not a outside force, it is a force from within.

The Devil is fear and addictions, obsession with money, power, sex.  It will lead to loss of control and our own self destruction.  There is loss of hope when you see this card.

When this card shows up in a reading it looks scary, but it can be a warning that will help you avoid the problems that come with the Devil.  It can be a warning that there is a need for discretion. In questions about a partner, it may show a drug, alcohol or sexual addiction.  This person is not in control of their life.

Physically this person is run down and tired.  Worried about work and not happy with their work.  It is time for a new job, but don't make any quick decisions.  Get things under control first.

Gallows the A to Z Blogging Challenge

Gallows: A wooden frame, consisting of a crossbeam on two uprights, on which condemned persons are executed by hanging.

The first image that comes to mind for me is the Hanged Man.

When you look at this hanged man you do not see distress.  This is waiting.  Life in suspension.  Young people always feel like their lives are not moving fast enough.  Very quickly they will find out how fast life is moving.

Have you ever felt stuck?  That is what this card is saying.  You are stuck, but there may be a good reason for it.  For some reason you are not supposed to be moving forward at this time.

With negative cards this can mean frustration and delay, with positive cards this can counsel delay.

In relationships watch out that you are not being a door mat.  If you question is when will something happen, The Hanged Man does not say it will not happen, but don't expect quick results.

There is a greater power controlling our destiny.  Surrender to the higher power and in time you will understand why you were held back.  Problems are coming to an end.

Failure The A to Z Blogging Challenge

Failure.  We all fear it and we all experience it.  Avoidance is pointless, but we always try.  However, there is always a lesson in failure if you are paying attention.

The Ten of Swords, I think, is the worse card in the deck.  Failure, backstabbing, devastation.  Yet the sun still shines in the card.  The worst is over.  It is time to pick yourself up, think about what just happened and move forward.

I am not a Psychic or fortune teller.  The Tarot cards are a reflection of the inner mind.  Whenever I do a reading and a card like this comes up, the client is not usually surprised.  They know what is going on.    Usually I hear " Ya, I knew that was coming".

The Ten of Swords can mean stress or backstabbing gossip at work.  Financially, this shows the worst is over and finances will begin to improve.  It may be a decision to leave a job that has not been good.

Turn away from negative thinking and move on.

Emperor for the A to Z Blogging Challenge

The Emperor.  The father figure.  The fourth card in the deck.  The number four is manifestation.

This card is a very masculine card.  However, this may just mean that you need more of the Emperor's traits to accomplish your goal.  This does not always mean that this represents a man in a reading.

There are reasons for rules and the Emperor will show you why.  Highly organized, others may see this person as controlling.  Usually of high morals, but this card can mean a political leader and politics and high morals don't usually go hand in hand.

The focus with this card is manifestation and the formation of an idea.  Plan carefully.  If an idea is built on a solid foundation it will work out.   The Emperor is not quick to make a decision he is very careful in his deliberations.

This card shows success in finances. You may be discussing future plans with a partner in business or in love.

With negative cards it can show lack of leadership or abuse of power. Government and corporate bureaucracy are represented by this card.
With a question of  what should I do, this card means you may need to take control, be more assertive.  Be the Emperor.

Dogs The A to Z Blogging Challenge

Dogs appear on the three cards in the Rider Waite Tarot Deck.  The card that resonates with me is the Ten of Pentacles.  This card shows family security and happiness.  Family wealth, inheritance, retirement, the protection of family are all represented by this card.  The dogs appear with the family just like all the dogs from my past to my present.

Since childhood, dogs have been in my life.  There were a few years where I only had cats, but the dog lover in me had me rescuing a dog from the animal shelter when my Son was 10.  I had scarcely got this dog settled in when my Daughter brought home another.

My Daughter walked in the door one night and said look at what I have.  Pulling her jacket back, I see a massive head.  I did not see a body.  I immediately knew this had to be a pit bull.  I said get it out of here.  I don't want that in my house.  Ten years later, my Daughter is gone and married with three children and I still have the pit bull.

Diesel loves children.  I was always careful when a new friend came in to the house, but I do that with any dog.  When my Grandchildren were born, I introduced them slowly and Diesel became the protector.  I have slept soundly knowing he is in the house.

Now at the closing of his life, Diesel has lost the use of his back legs from a surgery.  Still fiercely protective of my Grandchildren, I have to carry his butt in a sling to get him where he needs to be, but his appetite has not changed.  Diesel still loves to swim in the pool, but has to wear a life jacket and still has to come in to the bathroom while I take a shower in the morning.

I don't care what they say about pit bulls, mine is an angel.

Cars A to Z Blogging Challenge

You can't do much without a car.  Without a car, you are dependent on friends and family to get you around or public transportation.

We all need cars to get to work, the doctor, taking the kids to school, grocery shopping, etc.  Then there are those who just love cars.  My Fiance falls into this category.  It is so nice to see someone enjoying a hobby.  Bob will spend every weekend working on his cars.  These are his toys and he says he loves to work on them.

Early in our relationship I used to love standing in the driveway and hand the tools to him as he enjoyed his hobby.  It did not take long before I realized drinking wine in the kitchen was preferable to being yelled at from under the car.  The mother fu#%&!* shock won't go on correctly. " Hand me the wrench"  I oblige and hand the wrench.  "This isn't a wrench!! this is an electric screwdriver!!" The only tool I am familiar with is the power wine bottle opener so I head inside.

I also remember car rides. In college we would  jam seven people into a four seat Mustang and head into Boston I remember legs hanging out the window driving down Commonwealth Ave.. The two car rides when I went into labor with my Daughter and my Son. The limousine ride to my Father's burial was the most painful.  The most recent memorable car ride was after my Grandson was born prematurely.  I had to drive my Daughter home from the hospital without the baby who was not ready to go home.
My son was with me.  we drove along quietly until my son said "This is the first time the 3 three of us have been alone together for years."  It made me remember the trips to Disney with the two of them fighting all the way and me threatening to let them walk if they didn't stop fighting.

In the Tarot, the Chariot can represent our "wheels".  The Chariot is a major card and you may wonder why a major card represents our cars.  Well, as you can see, cars are very important to our lives.   In questions about finance, this card is telling you that you may have an issue with money. You will have to step up to get what you want. This is a victory card, but you will have to work at it.

Blessings - The A to Z Blogging Challenge

When I think of blessings, I see the Ace of Cups.  Aces are numbered 1 and mean beginnings.

The hand of God comes through the cloud holding a chalice.  A dove is holding a communion wafer over the overflowing cup.

Your cup runneth over with blessings of love and new beginnings.  This is fulfillment and joy.  This card is good news for  love, finance and career.  There is not a lot of negativity with this card.  If there is any it is a warning to control your emotions in order to change a situation.

This card is not a guarantee of happiness, but you have the chance if you want it.  It is a similar theme with the Magician.  Do you recognize your blessings? If you don't recognize the blessings from God, other blessings may not come. We need to thank God for all the blessings of this life.  This card can show a spiritual awakening.

I will leave you with an Irish blessing.

May flowers line your path and sunshine light your day.  May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.  May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue. May happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.

Alchemy For The A to Z Blogging Challenge

Alchemy: Any magical power or process of transmuting a common substance usually of little value into a substance of great value.

Alchemy was the forerunner to chemistry.  Alchemists during the Han Dynasty, while trying to find the secret to eternal life, came up with gun powder.  Not exactly a good way to achieve eternal life, but now we have fireworks!

In the Tarot deck we have an Alchemist.  The Magician.  The number of his card in the deck is 1. The number of creation.  When this card shows up in a reading you think of manifestation and new beginnings.

In the Rider Waite deck, the Magician stands in front of a table with all of the elements in the deck laid out before him.  The infinity symbol is above his head showing he has infinite knowledge.

In a reading the card may be asking can't you see that everything is there for you to succeed?  This person has a strong desire to achieve.  New beginnings, successful business transactions, a new partner in business or love.  If there are negative cards around the Magician it can show self doubt and that you need to be more like the Magician in thought and plan.

Whatever it is, now is the time to act.  Make sure you know what you want.  You can make a wish, but you must decide how you will make it happen.  Your life is what you make it.

You are the Alchemist.  You can turn you life into something spectacular.
